Job Summary
The specific duties of a Director of Construction Operations include formulating strategy, improving performance, managing resources, and securing compliance. Mentor team members, to find ways to increase quality of customer service and implement best practices across all levels. Goals
The goal is mainly to ensure the right processes and practices are carried out across the organization. Financial Responsibilities
Keep a pulse on and pay attention to any misuse of funds by field staff (i.e. too much temp labor or buying tools equipment that are frivolous). Preconstruction
Actively participates in development and management of projects construction schedule, project planning/phasing during preconstruction. Communicates with subcontractors and employees (along with the project managers) a consistent level of expectations and direction regarding schedules, construction methods, company policies and procedures, permits, quality control and other performance standards. Ensures all employees have relevant safety/loss prevention training for their positions. Participates in reviewing scopes for subcontracts and pre-bid/post-bid meetings. Project Administration and Internal Resource Management
Improve operational management systems, processes, and best practices. Help develop and implement processes and procedures for the efficient management of project teams field responsibilities. Routinely visits all assigned project sites to assess progress, quality of work and compliance with all required policies and procedures. Meets with all levels of project employees to discuss career development, accomplishments, concerns, ideas, etc. Assists in developing/facilitating superintendent-related company training programs. In charge of development, mentoring and professional growth of all field team. Supervise and provide training for all Superintendents relating to the following responsibilities of the Superintendent position. Housekeeping: Job Site cleanliness /project signage / fencing Schedule: Supervise and provide training and support to Superintendents on 6 week look. Provide scheduling support in general. Help develop and track master milestones for all projects. Coordination: Attend & provide support, training, and direction for Superintendents at weekly subcontractor Documentation: Supervise As-built drawings and all other progress documentation required by Raken: Provide management, training, and enforcement of RAKEN for all Procore: Provide management, training, and enforcement of PROCORE for all projects. Assist CEO and PX in the evaluation, placement & interviews of Superintendents/ Assistant Superintendents. Implement a discretionary/counseling program to track employee obligations and accountability. Conduct monthly superintendent Engage/meet with Field and Office staff regularly to track progress of projects, policies, and procedures. Ensures that the project closeout process is finalized to settle all financial obligations, demobilize all resources, and transition the project to the client. Subcontractor & Trade Management
Help manage/ schedule non-performing subs (help manage sub defaults). Support overutilized subcontractors across multiple jobs. Manage & Coordinate temp labor for all projects: Any use of temporary labor services shall be pre-approved by the DFO Manage/ track RGC labor foremen Equipment and Material Management
Review Home Depot spending, help limit liability. Asset Management. Organize and help manage the dispatching and tracking of all RGC equipment assets. Safety
Enforce RGC Safety Policies (hard hat sticker, sign in, PPE). Help with safety training and enforcement of click safety. Promote a safe and efficient construction environment. Promote Customer Relations
Keeps owners/architects informed of progress throughout the life of the project. Builds effective relationships with customers, design teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations. Makes presentations to proactively seek new business opportunities through relationships. Reporting
Keeps owners/architects informed of progress throughout the life of the project. Communicate project updates to executive leadership. Reports directly to CEO.
