Percentages for lesson pay
Private Lessons: 80-100%
Group Lessons: 60-80%
Position Function Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Superintendent, the employee performs duties to support the Recreation Division by coaching and teaching both private and group lessons. Responsibilities include planning and coordinating lesson schedules; league and tournament coordination; registering participants; communicating with participants and guardians; processing fees; record keeping; purchasing supplies and equipment; preparing and cleaning facilities; and frequently preparing and cleaning indoor/outdoor tennis spaces.
Essential Duties
Coaches and teaches tennis programs; plans and coordinates lesson schedules; coordinates leagues and tournaments; registers participants; maintains records; purchases supplies and equipment; and prepares and cleans facilities.
Manages contracts for vendors and/or contract labor for events, including reviewing, drafting, obtaining approvals on event contracts, ensuring proper insurance, event scheduling, ticket sales, and Form W-9 coordination with the Finance Department.
Provide a welcoming, friendly environment within the tennis program for guests and participants.
Operates facilities and programs by opening/closing during normal hours, managing customer service relations, vendor relations, on-site inspection of activities, and safe setup/teardown of buildings and/or facilities.
Develops and maintains vendor and event logs; quarterly and annual reports; cost and profit analysis; volunteer logs; recruiting and training; and cash management.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Environment Duties are primarily performed in an outdoor environment or setting. Possible exposure to dust, mold, and allergens; inclement weather and electrical hazards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required: High School Diploma or GED, and three (3) years of work-related experience in teaching tennis or tennis programs and facility operations.
RSPA, First Aid, and CPR Certifications are required.
Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Public Administration, or Business Administration is preferred.
Knowledge of principles and practices of recreation and group activities.
Ability to read and write letters, memos, contracts, spreadsheets, and other job-related analyses; excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint; ability to use promotional software for brochures and marketing collateral.
Ability to research, compile, analyze data, and present findings to management in an acceptable format.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, other government entities, contractors, vendors, media, and the general public.
Ability to work with social media, create and oversee events, and work a flexible schedule for special events and meetings.
Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment with time constraints; ability to work nights and weekends.
Thorough knowledge of tennis rules, equipment, and method of play; knowledge of public tennis facility operations; knowledge of racket stringing and tournament administration.
Other Requirements
Must possess a Valid Florida Class E driver's license.
Must pass applicable pre-employment testing, and background and credit checks.
