Overview
The Head Tennis Professional is responsible for overseeing the operation and performance of the Club’s racket sports facilities, ensuring an exceptional experience for members, friends and guests. This role leads all aspects of court operations, mentors assistant professionals, develops engaging programs, tournaments, and maintains a welcoming, positive environment for all visitors. The position requires a strong commitment to excellence and upholding the highest standards of courtesy, professionalism, and service, while elevating the quality of racquet sports at the Club.
Compensation
Base Salary: $75K - $85K
Incentive Structure: $75K approximately based on commissions
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Must be well groomed and adhere to dress code/uniform and personal appearance standards defined in the associate handbook.
Must be friendly and outgoing with a professional demeanor.
Ability to work alone during certain parts of the day.
Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and possible overtime.
Must be punctual each workday per their scheduled time.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Racket Sports Program Development & Leadership:
Develop and oversee a comprehensive, engaging racket sports program for members, including private lessons, group clinics, camps, tournaments, round robins, social events and special events; tailor offerings to all skill levels, ages, and abilities; lead coaching staff and ensure high coaching standards; create and manage seasonal programs with an evolving curriculum.
Coaching & Instruction:
Provide private and group lessons; lead clinics and camps; prepare players for higher levels including tournament preparation, strategy, and mental training.
Staff Management & Training:
Supervise and develop coaching staff; ensure up-to-date coaching techniques and industry trends; assist in hiring and training new racket sports professionals; develop weekly schedules.
Member Engagement & Experience:
Build relationships with members, provide personalized recommendations on racket sports activities and equipment; collaborate with membership to engage and retain members; foster an inclusive environment.
Tournament & Event Coordination:
Plan and oversee tournaments, leagues, exhibitions, and events; promote participation and represent the club at competitions.
Facility Management & Maintenance:
Ensure courts and related facilities are clean and well maintained; coordinate repairs and equipment stocking.
Marketing & Promotion:
Work with marketing to promote programs and events; develop strategies to increase participation; align offerings with the club’s mission and branding.
Performance Factors
Attendance/Punctuality and Dependability: Report on schedule, minimize unplanned absences, and follow attendance policies.
Normal Work Schedule: Flexible to accommodate up to 47.5 hours per week with possible overtime during peak periods.
Teamwork and Flexibility: Adapt to new ideas and changes; provide constructive feedback.
Communication: Communicate clearly with colleagues, managers, and members; professional written and verbal communication.
Relationships with Others: Provide courteous service and maintain constructive working relationships.
