Job Description
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is a multifaceted program with the primary mission of supporting historically underrepresented students in their educational pathway, including admission to EOP, transition to college, academic success, retention, and degree completion. The Director, EOP administers the program, ensuring compliance with NYS Department of Education, NYS Office of Opportunity Programs, and OCC guidelines. The Director collaborates with academic departments, student engagement, and enrollment offices to ensure that economically and educationally disadvantaged students receive the services needed to achieve their academic and career goals.
Responsibilities
Provide leadership, manage overall planning, and supervise all staff, activities, and program development for EOP, including a summer program and orientation program for students and parents. Activities include program design, tutoring, counseling, mentoring, academic advising, and career/transfer advising.
Coordinate with the Recruitment and Admissions Office to recruit and identify potential EOP students; collaborate with the Financial Aid Office and Student Accounts on financial eligibility and related issues for EOP students.
Review prospective EOP students' applications and determine admissions within established parameters, including the number of students OCC has contracted to serve.
Coordinate with EOP counselors and faculty for appropriate advisement and counseling; ensure Retention Alert Instructor Reports are obtained and provided to assigned EOP counselors for follow-up; maintain thorough and accurate data.
Initiate and implement enrichment activities for EOP students in coordination with EOP counselors and other student services professionals, aligned with campus retention strategies for underserved populations.
Develop and maintain contact with community agencies, transfer institutions, and other EOP directors; complete transfer verifications for other colleges' EOP offices in a timely manner.
Prepare annual EOP Summer Institute proposals per NYS guidelines and campus priorities; oversee the Summer Institute to ensure quality experience and adherence to funding source expectations and budget.
Complete all EOP reporting accurately and on time (NY State Office of Opportunity, NYS Department of Education, and OCC reports including budget, enrollment, summer, and progress data).
Collaborate with Institutional Research & Planning to address data discrepancies; submit interim and final reports to supervisor and Financial Services before submittal to NYS.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university or foreign equivalent in a field appropriate to the assignment and five years of related experience, or
Master’s degree from an accredited college/university or foreign equivalent and four years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, or closely related field
Community college experience
Continuing education to remain current in the field
Five years of supervisory/administrative experience in higher education, including experience with educational support and/or college access programs, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with high-needs populations in community college/higher education setting
Bilingual in English and Spanish (or English plus other languages)
Additional Information
Salary range: $58,564 – $65,600, commensurate with credentials and relevant experience.

Participation in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program for eligible borrowers.
