Job Summary The Sr. Staff Geoscientist will demonstrate a record of varied technical exposure to many global basins & petroleum systems. They will provide geological and geophysical support for the international exploration team, including regional and sub-regional seismic interpretation, seismic mapping, qualitative / quantitative seismic interpretation as well as lead identification, prospect evaluation, and prospect maturation. The candidate should have a strong working knowledge of Petroleum Systems, Stratigraphy & Structural Geology. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a team-first approach, comfortable in a fast-paced environment and proficient in using seismic interpretation to generate and mature exploration concepts from regional interpretations to drill-ready prospects. A firm understanding of depositional systems, comfortable and proficient with integrating large varying datasets that span an entire basin. Plus, an ability and willingness to provide operational support while drilling. A firm understanding of geologic models for resource estimation and risk application utilizing statistical software such as RoseRA is required. Additional beneficial skills include demonstrated proficiency in The Kingdom Suite and Paleoscan. The Sr. Staff Geologist will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work up to two (2) days a week remote. Responsibilities Geologic workflows for well-based interpretation and evaluation Seismic interpretation to generate regional maps and mature exploration concepts Conduct regional and prospect level mapping with attribute analysis Detailed Structural Interpretations of the subsurface at various scales Assist Subject Matter Expert in creating 1D, 2D & 3D Petroleum Systems Models Lead to Prospect Evaluations Regional evaluation and maturation Technical Assurance, Portfolio assessment and ranking Demonstrated ability to document results, construct a story, and develop a concise supporting presentation to clearly communicate a recommendation to Senior Management Identify data/product for purchase, QA/QC during vendor projects Present Murphy farm-in opportunities to other companies, review other company farm-out opportunities, project related interactions with partner companies Collaboration, technical discussions, project peer assists/reviews, and mentoring/coaching Qualifications/Requirements Master’s Degree in Geology or Geophysics Minimum 18 years’ experience in exploration with experience along the Atlantic Margins Expert understanding of geological workflows Kingdom software experience prefered as well as knowledge in the Paleoscan, HampsonRussell and Rockdoc applications, ArcGIS experience, and resource analysis (RoseRA) experience is necess The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs.
