Join our dynamic operations team as a Material Planner Specialist, where your attention to detail and proactive mindset will make a significant impact. In this role, you will be at the forefront of planning, scheduling, and coordinating the flow of materials from warehouse receipt to production. Your efforts will ensure that we have the necessary raw materials and components available on time, helping us to achieve production goals, reduce delays, and enhance inventory efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and implement material flow plans that align with production requirements and reduce inventory costs.
Create raw material schedules based on engineering specifications and production forecasts.
Collaborate effectively with purchasing, warehouse, and production departments to ensure smooth material planning activities.
Proactively monitor inventory levels, adjusting plans to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
Facilitate the timely delivery of materials to the production line, optimizing material utilization.
Analyze material movement and lead times to identify opportunities for continuous supply chain improvement.
Engage with cross-functional teams to resolve material-related challenges and enhance production workflows.
Maintain precise records and generate reports concerning material planning and scheduling activities.
Basic Qualifications:
TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance is mandatory.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for education.
2-4 years of relevant experience in material planning, materials management, or supply chain operations (or a Master's degree with less than 2 years of experience).
Solid understanding of materials management practices, production planning, and supply chain operations.
Familiarity with Bill of Materials (BOM), procurement processes, and inventory management.
Experience utilizing Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) systems or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, adaptable to moderately complex issues.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
Able to work independently on moderate assignments and manage material flow efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (Master's) in a relevant field such as Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or Business Analytics.
Experience in manufacturing or production environments with involvement in cross-functional projects.
Familiarity with advanced materials management systems or ERP platforms like SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards.
Proven ability to work with suppliers and vendors to ensure optimal material delivery and inventory management.
Knowledge of industry best practices and standards in materials and production planning.
Skilled in developing and interpreting production schedules, forecasts, and engineering specifications.
Experience with lean manufacturing principles or just-in-time (JIT) inventory management.
Possession of professional certifications such as APICS CPIM, CSCP, or ISM CPSM.
