is seeking a
Transportation Planner II
to perform transportation planning work concerning public transportation, shuttle services, biking and walking, curb/parking management, paratransit, traffic management, commercial ground transportation management, and other transportation modes. Role Description: Prepares, analyzes, or evaluates reports, plans, and policies for various transportation planning projects and grant requests. Designs, prepares, and/or coordinates the preparation of visual materials including graphs, charts, maps and models to illustrate presentations of transit and/or transportation projects. Reviews, interprets, and applies legislation and codes related to transportation planning to develop and implement transportation projects. Makes presentations to community, business and other groups to explain public transportation and/or other transportation projects. Assists in managing transportation projects along with the preparation of requests for grant proposals and contract documents. Interprets and integrates transportation policy in the review of proposed development projects and environmental impact reports. Develops, evaluates proposals for planning, and coordinates the implementation of transportation plans and projects including transit route, service and operational changes, and shuttle services. Evaluates and makes recommendations on technical aspects of transportation planning, capital, or operating projects in San Francisco involving various transit modes. Collects, compiles and analyzes field and other data to prepare and evaluate plans and proposals concerning public transportation activities. Applies computer-assisted analytical techniques to evaluate and/or forecast planning and operational data to assist in formulating transportation planning programs. Prepares correspondence in response to public, Commission or other agency inquiries. How to Qualify: Possession of a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Planning, Transportation, Transportation Engineering, Public Administration or other closely related field. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; AND two (2) years of transportation planning experience. Additional transportation planning experience beyond the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the baccalaureate degree requirement on a year-for year basis.
