Senior Underwriting Manager, Middle Market Life Sciences

at Liberty Mutual Insurance. This role is part of a new dedicated Life Sciences Underwriting team within the Middle Market, reporting to leadership in Middle Market Life Sciences. This is a hybrid role: 2 days/week in office and 3 days/week work-from-home, with up to 25% travel expected depending on opportunity. Location shown in postings includes Mountlake Terrace, WA. Responsibilities

Establishes a visible external profile and builds excellent relationships with external agents, brokers, partners, and stakeholders to grow the Life Sciences Middle Market portfolio. Executes Go-To-Market Strategy and Strategic Distribution Plan to raise brand awareness and educate trading partners on Liberty's product and service capabilities for Life Sciences risks. Leads pipeline development strategies for the Life Sciences Industry Practice. Underwrites individual accounts (primarily new business) including risk selection, risk assessment, pricing, terms/conditions, quoting/binding, and servicing a book of business. Underwriting competency is based on established Life Sciences experience with appropriate underwriting authority. Serves existing accounts and engages with clients to deliver Liberty's value proposition. Responsible for the performance of the growing Life Sciences portfolio; assists CUO with forecasting and planning. Leads or supports projects and initiatives to drive underwriting and process excellence within the Life Sciences Practice. Models effective collaboration across teams and stakeholders (Distribution, Operations, UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, Directors of Underwriting in North America). Maintains strong knowledge of applicable legal, regulatory, and industry developments impacting Life Sciences underwriting. Shares knowledge through external thought leadership and internal training; mentors, coaches, and trains other underwriters and internal partners. Qualifications

Degree in Business, Risk Management, or Scientific Field or equivalent typically required. Minimum of 10 years of progressive underwriting experience, including at least 2 years of proven underwriting management experience. CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred. Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business. Proven analytical ability to evaluate high-impact underwriting exposures for Life Sciences risks across Property and Liability Lines of Business. Ability to communicate complex analyses clearly in writing and verbally to internal stakeholders for underwriting or training purposes. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to understand and implement complex underwriting issues and related processes/workflows. Base pay range

$96,000.00/yr - $350,000.00/yr Notes
