This Opportunity
WSP is initiating a search for a Sr. Electrical Engineer to work at Fort George G. Meade Army Base at Fort Meade, MD. Be involved in projects with our Federal Programs Team and contribute to a growing organization that meets client objectives and solves challenges. Responsibilities
Performance of electrical engineering design and production support from project inception through construction. Leverage analytical and design skills to solve complex technical problems within the professional discipline. Utilize design and analytical software tools (i.e., REVIT, AutoCAD, Trace 3D Plus) to solve electrical engineering problems. Perform engineering studies, requirements development and programming, site investigations and evaluation, facility criteria development, budget and programming support, analyses, and program execution. Determine methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from field work, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, and reports for project development, design, and construction. Conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, buildings, usage, and electrical systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and permits. Develop construction and installation plans, specifications, and construction safety and phasing plans; update building layout plans requiring coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients. Incorporate design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies for proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems according to specifications (SpecsIntact, UFGS; UFC). Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers, planners, and scientists to manage multiple projects, lay out equipment installations, calculate costs and quantities, and ensure compliance with specifications, permits, schematics, and regulatory analysis memos. Prepare data and visualizations (tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, drawings, spreadsheets) for interpretation or presentation of findings. Maintain quality control standards for measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting. Assist with development and scoping of medium-sized projects and provide guidance to entry-level engineers. Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations to address design and construction issues or opportunities. Assist in data analysis from field investigations and contribute to action plans for risk installation, equipment operations, and mitigation activities. Comply with regulatory requirements for data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record retention. Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients professionally. Remain current in latest electrical engineering techniques and practices. Work collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects involving Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvements and development. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources; adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline from an accredited university. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD; hands-on design experience. 7+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering design. Ability to obtain a US Government-issued Secret clearance. US citizenship is required due to client requirements. Proficient knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, design/build processes, and application to project work. Experience with building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management, including rehabilitation and new design projects. Working knowledge of relevant electrical codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping. Ability to perform technical computations, interpret plans and specifications, and compare to applicable regulations. Project management experience with small to mid-sized projects, including tracking hours and expenses. Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations on facilities, applying regulations and policies. Effective interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences. Self-led with attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment. Ability to work independently and lead junior team members with QA/QC adherence. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, office software, and data analysis tools. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to derive actionable conclusions from data and tests. Ability to direct field teams to complete tasks safely and efficiently. Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with WSP safety policies. Willingness to work hours that may extend beyond a typical workweek; occasional travel may be required. 12 years of experience in electrical systems. Current Professional Engineer (Electrical) registration. Familiarity with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) system. Active US Government-issued Secret clearance a plus. Project management experience with small to mid-sized projects with tracking of hours and expenses. Compensation and Benefits
