Engineer Associate II - Road & Bridge

Reporting directly to an assigned Engineer, responsible for providing technical civil engineering assistance to support various engineering projects for the Williamson County Department of Infrastructure.
Responsibilities
All engineering analysis and design activities will be performed under the supervision of a Texas Professional Engineer
Provides civil engineering designs for street and drainage improvements
Produces detailed engineering drawings and reports to support activities associated with street and drainage construction and/or improvements
Produces hydrologic / hydraulic studies that include flood plain analysis, detention pond and storm sewer design / analysis and culvert / bridge analysis
Provides engineering review of subdivision plats, construction plans and site development plans to ascertain their compliance with the County’s Subdivision Regulations
Provides information to the public regarding development processes and permits
Assists and answers questions from field crews and inspectors related to street and drainage construction activities
Communicates with other county employees, external agencies, and the general public.
Readily complies with departmental and county-wide policies and procedures
Understands and follows oral and written instructions
Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
Performs special duties as assigned

Physical Demands
Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying
Position involves safely operating a motor vehicle
Environmental Factors
Indoor and outdoor work in all environments, including inclement weather
Travel between work sites is required
Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, bacteria, fungus and high noise levels
Irregular Hours
Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required
May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency
Regular attendance is required

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
EIT (Engineer In Training) Certification
Licenses and Certifications Required within thirty (30) days of employment
Valid Texas driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Two (2) year of Civil Engineering related experience
