$150,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr Lead Mechanical Superintendent Location: Houston, TX Job Summary We are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Superintendent to lead a team responsible for the installation of gas turbine drivers and refrigerant compressors on a major LNG project. This role involves supervising superintendents and craft professionals, coordinating subcontractor activities, and ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality execution. You will be instrumental in ensuring all personnel have the tools, resources, and guidance required to deliver work that meets project specifications, schedules, and budgets. Project Overview Our client is currently delivering four (4) major multi-train LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) projects along the U.S. Gulf Coast, each with defined expansion scopes. In addition, a new multi-train LNG project is scheduled to commence in the region within the next two years. These projects are executed using an integrated EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) model, with construction carried out through a self-perform, direct-hire approach, supplemented by specialized subcontractors. Key Responsibilities Lead the installation of gas turbine drivers, accessory compartments, ducting, inlet filter housings, and associated equipment. Oversee the installation of refrigerant compressors and all related systems and accessories. Ensure alignment and grouting of API refrigeration compressor soleplates. Leadership & Supervision Supervise discipline-specific superintendents and direct-hire craft professionals (50–100 personnel). Assign and monitor daily tasks and progress, ensuring alignment with project plans. Coordinate with subcontractors and internal teams for effective execution. Planning & Productivity Develop detailed work plans and schedules. Drive workforce planning to meet productivity targets and milestones. Track and manage progress against project schedules. Tools, Equipment & Materials Oversee preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools, equipment, and consumables. Ensure timely availability of all required resources for the craft teams. Safety & Quality Assurance Enforce strict adherence to safety policies and job site rules. Ensure the use of the latest approved design documents for installation work. Monitor construction and subcontractor performance for compliance with quality, budget, and schedule requirements. Technical Coordination Collaborate with Field Engineers, Foremen, and vendors to interpret engineering and vendor documentation. Coordinate with suppliers and ensure proper management of materials on site. Oversee implementation of preservation and preventative maintenance programs. Manage technical issue resolution in conjunction with Subcontractors and internal teams. Qualifications & Experience Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field with 10–13 years of relevant experience,
or 14–17 years of direct relevant field experience without a degree. Required Experience & Skills: Hands-on experience with the installation of aeroderivative gas turbine drivers. Direct experience with the following compressor and turbine configurations: Baker Hughes 2BCL1206GE GE LM6000 PF + DLE MS7001EA, GT MCL1604 + BCL1002 MCL1405, 3MCL1405, 2BCL906 MS7001EA GT, MCL1404 + BCL904 Proficient in alignment procedures and levelness checks. Experience with installation of ductwork, air inlet systems, and turbine enclosures. Familiar with planning, installation, and commissioning of accessory modules. Deep understanding of multi-discipline construction operations. Familiarity with company policies including: ES&H Handbook Safety Management Plan Working knowledge of Six Sigma tools and standard work processes (SWPPs). Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and other relevant software). Strong leadership skills with a team-oriented mindset. Understanding of subcontractor management and associated contractual obligations. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Must be physically capable of performing field inspections, including: Walking on uneven terrain and through construction zones Working in elevated, confined, or hot/humid environments Climbing ladders and scaffolding Ability to wear and properly utilize PPE (e.g., harnesses, life vests, lift buckets). Must be able to safely enter and exit the job site under varying conditions.
