Overview

The Project Engineer (Fire Sprinkler System / Mechanical) is responsible for managing and executing fire protection system projects, specifically sprinkler systems. This includes project planning, material and design coordination, site supervision, testing, commissioning, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and international standards. Responsibilities

Project Planning & Coordination

Plan and schedule project activities in line with approved timelines. Prepare and submit technical drawings, hydraulic calculations, and material submittals for consultant and authority approval. Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers for smooth project execution.

Installation & Supervision

Supervise the installation of fire sprinkler systems, piping, pumps, and related equipment. Ensure site works comply with design, NFPA standards, and local authority requirements. Conduct site inspections and resolve technical/site issues promptly.

Testing & Commissioning

Carry out system testing and commissioning, including hydrostatic pressure testing, flow testing, and pump performance tests. Coordinate with authorities (e.g., Fire Department) for inspections and final approvals.

Documentation & Reporting

Prepare project progress reports, method statements, and risk assessments. Maintain proper documentation of drawings, approvals, and test certificates. Monitor project costs, materials, and manpower to ensure efficiency.

Compliance & Quality

Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, building codes, and company standards. Enforce workplace safety and quality assurance procedures on-site.

Requirements

Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in fire protection or M&E projects (fresh graduates may be considered for junior roles). Strong knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, pumps, valves, piping, and related equipment. Familiarity with NFPA, and local fire authority standards/regulations. Excellent coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills. Willing to work at project sites and handle multiple projects. Preferred Skills (Added Advantage)

Experience in AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, or similar design/drafting software. Hands-on knowledge of fire pumps and sprinkler system commissioning. Registration with relevant local authority or professional body.
