MITRE’s Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center's Robotics and Autonomous Systems Department develops cutting-edge autonomous systems, robotics capabilities, and AI solutions. We seek a strong technical candidate with a STEM degree to join a team focused on Artificial Intelligence and/or Autonomous System solutions for manufacturing robotics. The right candidate will thrive in a fast-paced team environment and collaborate with scientists and engineers on advancing manufacturing robotics challenges across the industrial base and support MITRE’s AI and autonomy efforts. Responsibilities
Support sponsor programs with a wide variety of challenging activities in direct alignment with MITRE’s AI and autonomy efforts. Collaborate with a team of engineers and scientists on developing AI and autonomy capabilities for manufacturing robotics. Contribute to research, development, integration, and evaluation of autonomous systems in industrial settings. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a technical major 8+ years’ applicable work experience related to autonomy and AI Understanding of state-of-the-art robotics and autonomous systems technology, especially for AI-driven manufacturing Deep experience in robotics-related fields (e.g., computer vision, deep learning, machine learning, control theory, human–machine teaming, multi-robot systems) Ability to articulate autonomy-specific challenges (perception, reasoning, behaviors, collaboration), discuss critical issues, and identify gaps in the current manufacturing robotics base Familiarity with ROS 2 and Docker Knowledge of challenges in developing robust autonomous and AI systems for industrial manufacturing Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) Strong verbal, written, PC, presentation, and communication skills Proven ability to learn new technologies and work independently Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to foster sponsor relationships U.S. citizen due to security clearance eligibility requirements Minimum 50% hybrid on-site work arrangement Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in related fields (e.g., Robotics, Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science) Knowledge of autonomy and AI evaluation in industry and academia Domain knowledge of manufacturing robotics and major industry players Experience configuring and writing software for industrial applications Experience with rapid prototyping, including fabrication and electronics Experience with field testing of robotics and autonomous systems Knowledge of edge computing, compute–size–weight–and–power platforms, and/or surrogate or scaled platforms Leadership of teams implementing and evaluating AI and autonomy algorithms Experience developing, proposing, and executing research in robotics and autonomous systems Clearance
This requisition requires the candidate to have or obtain a security clearance within one year of hire: Secret. No prior clearance is assumed. Work Location
