The Role + Purpose:
As the Vice President of Women's Design, you will report directly to the Senior Vice President of J.Crew Factory Design to define and execute the creative & strategic direction for the J.Crew Factory Women's Apparel and Accessory product assortments. This role requires a strong leadership presence, mentoring and leading a design team and collaborating with cross-functional partners including Merchandising, Production, and Marketing to ensure successful product execution and business outcomes. The ideal candidate will bring strategic vision, extensive design experience, and a keen understanding of the fashion industry and evolving customer needs, with the ability to identify future needs and opportunities of the Women's business. You will be responsible for leading the design of women's denim, wovens, knits, sweaters, lounge, and swimwear categories, ensuring cohesive product offerings across all categories while maintaining the J.Crew Factory brand aesthetic and value proposition. Responsibilities
Develop and execute the design vision for Women's Apparel & Accessory collections across denim, wovens, knits, sweaters, lounge, and swimwear, ensuring alignment with J.Crew Factory brand identity, market demands, and emerging trends while partnering with the concept lead on overall brand concept execution. Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of designers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment while building talent, ensuring continuous growth, and managing creative resources effectively. Collaborate with Men's and Kids' design leads to ensure family cohesion across all product categories, creating unified brand experiences and leveraging cross-category insights. Oversee the end-to-end design process from concepting and trend research through development and delivery to marketing, ensuring cohesive collections and compelling assortments. Cultivate partnerships with Merchandising, Sourcing, Technical Design, and Marketing teams to ensure seamless execution of product assortments and a cohesive customer experience. Stay ahead of market trends through global research, competitor analysis, and consumer insights to position the brand as a leader and translate insights into commercially successful designs. Drive product innovation while considering financial targets, costing, and margin goals, owning comprehensive product strategy that elevates the brand’s portfolio. Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring all designs are consistent with J.Crew Factory’s image and values while identifying future needs and opportunities for the Women’s business. Qualifications
Required: 15+ years of experience in Women’s design with deep knowledge of fabric construction, fit development, design processes, and manufacturing across multiple categories including denim, wovens, knits, sweaters, lounge, and swimwear. Proven expertise in designing to value brand strategies, with demonstrated ability to create compelling products that meet price point requirements without compromising quality or aesthetic appeal. 10+ years of proven leadership experience motivating, coaching, and developing high-performing creative design teams. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and articulate compelling design direction that drives business growth. Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills with proven track record of partnering effectively with Merchandising, Sourcing, and Marketing teams to achieve business objectives, including cross-category brand cohesion. Exceptional presentation and communication skills to effectively present strategies and ideas to leadership and cross-functional teams.
