Product Engineer Electrical / Electronic Job location: Chicago, IL. This is a contract position.

Overview Our client is seeking a Product Engineer Electrical / Electronic to join the Product Development organization, co-located at the Chicago Assembly Plant (CAP) along with the Operations team. This role involves analyzing and improving the quality of the vehicles built at Chicago, across Electrical/Electronic hardware and related subsystems.

Responsibilities

Join the Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineer and support quality-related tasks for vehicles produced at the Chicago plant.

Review incoming warranty claims data daily, analyze customer and dealership feedback, categorize claims, coordinate parts and repair diagnoses with dealerships, and participate in customer callbacks to ensure understanding of feedback.

Analyze returned parts for root cause; develop Interim Containment and Permanent Corrective Actions.

Support the assembly plant with Stop Ships/Stop Builds, Campaigns, Audits, Root Cause Analyses, and other Quality-related activities.

Lead engineering commodity changes for future minor product launches and drive cost reduction actions in current production vehicles.

Collaborate with the Variability Reduction Team (VRT) and Supplier partners to address quality concerns across sub-systems.

Lead engineering trials and implement running changes for the sub-system.

Issue engineering Alerts and pursue authorization of engineering Concerns for product changes to support Quality objectives.

Engage technical experts and functional team members to drive resolution and develop corrective actions to improve product Quality.

Maintain Quality documents at sub-system or Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) level (SAQ, Top 20 concerns).

Present findings and status to management (e.g., weekly VRT reports, Vehicle Quality Reviews, Engineering Managers reviews).

Work across two Functions and Variability Reduction Teams: Electrical/Electronic Hardware and Body Interior.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree.

2-5 years of relevant experience.

Electrical Engineering background with experience relating to Body Interior systems from a Systems Engineering perspective (e.g., Seats, Restraints, Door Trim, IP & Cockpit with electronic modules or switches).

Understanding of module communication (e.g., CAN) and troubleshooting as it applies to vehicle functions and their impact on Body Interior.

Position is onsite.
