LHH has partnered with a large and reputable accounting firm in Fredericksburg, VA to identify a Tax Manager! This position will lead and manage multiple tax engagements, focusing primarily on S-Corporations and partnerships. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality tax services, overseeing compliance, and providing strategic tax planning for a diverse client base.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee tax engagements from budgeting through final review, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Prepare and review complex tax returns for S-Corporations, partnerships, and other business entities. Conduct technical tax research and provide guidance on complex tax issues. Advise clients on tax planning strategies, entity structuring, and the impact of new or revised tax laws. Lead, mentor, and develop junior staff; review their work and provide feedback. Manage client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for assigned clients. Participate in business development activities, including meeting with prospective clients and preparing proposals. Respond to IRS and state agency audits, inquiries, and tax notices. Ensure timely completion of all client deliverables and manage engagement deadlines. Stay current with industry trends, tax law changes, and best practices. Requirements
Active CPA license required. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Minimum 5 years of tax compliance and planning experience, with a strong emphasis on S-Corporations and partnerships. Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing complex returns for S-Corps, partnerships, and a mix of client types. Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax laws as they relate to pass-through entities. Excellent communication, leadership, and client service skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience with tax or general accounting software is preferred. Prior public accounting experience is highly desirable.
