R2334The E&S Underwriting Manager is a key member of the underwriting team, reporting to the Regional Underwriting Manager. The primary objective of this role is to profitably grow and manage an E&S book of business by actively partnering with wholesale and retail brokers, leading and developing a small underwriting team, and collaborating with colleagues across the organization. This individual will assist the Regional Underwriting Manager in planning and budgeting, strengthening broker relationships, and executing disciplined underwriting decisions within the assigned territory.**What You’ll Do*** **Business Management*** Partner with the Regional Business Development Executive and Regional Underwriting Manager to plan and budget for the E&S portfolio.* Monitor and report on performance against plan, ensuring profitability targets are met.* Develop a clear perspective on market conditions, industry trends, and competitor strategies in the E&S space within the assigned territory.* **Underwriter Leadership*** Lead and mentor a small team of E&S Underwriters, providing guidance on referrals, underwriting judgment, and complex risk evaluation.* Coach and develop direct reports to expand their expertise in non-admitted products and specialty risk solutions.* **Underwriting Execution*** Drive new and renewal underwriting decisions for complex and non-standard risks in line with PURE’s E&S strategy and appetite.* Assess, structure, and price accounts thoughtfully, balancing risk selection with business objectives.* Ensure compliance with authority, documentation, and regulatory guidelines specific to E&S.* Conduct quarterly self-audits and implement improvements as needed.* **Broker Partnership*** Cultivate, maintain, and expand broker relationships within assigned territory.* Develop and execute strategies and goals for key broker partners, tracking performance and progress.* Position PURE as a trusted E&S market by:

* **Underwriting Referrals*** Provide excellent referral support to junior E&S Underwriters, modeling sound decision-making and risk analysis.* Assist the Regional Underwriting Manager in strengthening the underwriting team’s technical depth and market expertise.**What We’re Looking For*** Bachelor’s degree required; leadership/management experience strongly preferred.* Minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience in the E&S market (HNW or specialty risk focus strongly preferred).* Demonstrated progression of responsibility with proven ability to lead and develop a team.* Strong technical underwriting skills with the ability to assess unique, non-standard, or distressed risks.* Solid problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making capabilities.* Ability to build trust and credibility with wholesale and retail brokers and foster long-term, productive relationships.* Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact across all levels of internal and external business partners.* Experience in developing and executing marketing plans, including prospecting and broker engagement.* Adaptability and creativity in a dynamic E&S marketplace.* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.The base salary for this role can range from $95,000 to $115,000 based on a full-time work schedule.
