Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team at SpyGlass Pharma. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards. This role will also contribute to the month-end close process, financial statement preparation, and other critical financial functions that support the company’s growth.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and account analysis.
Maintain and update fixed asset schedules and perform depreciation calculations.
Assist with external audits by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, HR, and Operations.
Maintain ERP system data integrity via updating, monitoring, reviewing inputs and records on a regular basis.
Serve as the primary reviewer and processor of purchase requests and purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and proper general ledger coding.
Identify process improvement opportunities and support the implementation of best practices.
Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, procedures, and SOX requirements.
Process and review expense reports and vendor invoices for accuracy and proper coding.
Support the preparation of financial statements and internal reports.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements on a regular basis.
Qualifications Required For Position
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences company or 1-3 years of public accounting audit experience with pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences exposure.
Experience with accounting systems (NetSuite preferred) and Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced required).
Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with high attention to detail.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Certificates/Licenses Preferred for Role
CPA certification or progress toward CPA preferred.
