Overview
Schedule: Full-time with weekend commitment. Day and Evening shifts, 7:00am–7:30pm.
Responsibilities
Functions under the supervision of the RN in a cooperative effort with the health care team to directly observe and correctly redirect assigned patient. Promptly and effectively communicates with patient, family, and visitors. Recognizes hazards to patient safety and takes appropriate action. Sitter does not perform activities of daily living (ADLs), documentation, or caregiver functions.
Maintains vigilance during patient supervision and alerts staff to any behavior that could indicate potential problems.
Engages patient in activities as appropriate (e.g., conversation, reading, cards, videos, games, and other forms of entertainment).
Assists in enforcing patient instructions as directed. Observes patient for behaviors that could indicate potential problems for patient or staff and alerts nursing staff.
Safely transports patient as appropriate.
Facilitates open communication with patients, families, nurses, and other team members to promote patient safety and excellent customer service.
Responds to patient promptly and courteously. Engages patient in healthy communication as a diversional activity.
Carries and uses assigned communication device effectively (e.g., Vocera).
Experience Required: Less than one year
Education Required: High School / GED (Preferred)
