Lead Platform Engineer

We are seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to help our direct client. This is a hybrid position being onsite 3 days per week. Must live within 50 miles of Baltimore MD. Responsibilities: Collaboratively establish availability and performance objectives, measure progress towards those objectives, and implement necessary changes. Interpret changing technical and process needs of product teams and adjusting platform and tooling to meet those needs. Be Subject Matter Expert with Test Driven Development (TDD) and Agile methodologies. Advise on and provide alternative (out of the box) solutions. Provide hands-on technical configuration and development. Provide thought leadership and mentoring to the team. Requirements: 5+ years of experience in observability, site reliability, or cloud infrastructure roles. Strong hands-on experience with AWS and Azure cloud services, including native monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics). Proficiency with observability stacks and APM tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic stack, OpsRamp, OpenTelemetry or closely aligned tools. Solid understanding of containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools. Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Bash, Terraform, Ansible, or similar). Deep knowledge of system performance tuning, incident management, and root cause analysis. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Desired Skills: Certifications in AWS (e.g., Solutions Architect) and/or Azure (e.g., Azure Administrator or Solutions Architect). Experience with serverless and hybrid cloud architectures. Knowledge of security and compliance monitoring in cloud environments. Background in software development or SRE.
