Client is working on a Data Center migration and needs an experienced Architect with experience in data center-hosted applications in a Cloud and Hybrid environment. The core issues the team is experiencing are with dependency issues, latency issues, application hosting, etc. The Architect will be instrumental in providing a holistic diagram of the migration process, possess the ability to do a deep dive into the current application architecture, and provide the necessary fixes via roadmaps and diagrams for a way forward. The applications are primarily .NET-based, but some apps are in Java. The team is also working on setting up Python-based AI applications. Requirements: 10+ years of experience 3+ years of experience as an architect At least one implementation of a data center migration Experience with one or more of the following Kong, API Gateway, F5, Palo Alto, Data Power Description: Proven track record in leading data center migrations and mapping application dependencies across hybrid environments. Strong engineering foundation with experience evolving from individual contributor to architect, capable of dissecting systems and solving complex technical challenges. Deep expertise in both Azure and AWS, with hands-on familiarity across networking, API gateways (Kong, DataPower), and firewalls (Palo Alto, F5). Ability to create and interpret complex architecture diagrams and organize loosely defined applications into structured, actionable units. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to build trust across teams facing acquisition-related uncertainty, and to clearly engage both technical and business stakeholders. Lead the shutdown of the Commonwealth's data centers and oversee the transition to Client's infrastructure. Define migration paths for the Commonwealth's data applications, including timelines and long-term support plans for systems that cannot be migrated. Create detailed technical architecture diagrams and simplified visual maps for business stakeholders, identifying dependencies and support teams. Collaborate with network teams to address convergence issues between data centers and backbone systems like Kafka. Perform hands-on analysis of applications to uncover latency issues, trace network flows, and understand system dependencies. Build migration roadmaps, assess financial impacts, and produce documentation and artifacts to support planning and execution. Work within a mixed tech stack (.NET, Java, Python) and cloud platforms (Azure transitioning to AWS), integrating with infrastructure components like API gateways, firewalls, and load balancers.
