The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at Yale School of Medicine is expanding its clinical practice and seeks an outstanding Uveitis trained Ophthalmologist to serve as the Chief of the Division. The candidate must be eligible for an appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor at the Yale University School of Medicine. The Division Chief will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care, leading, and expanding the clinical footprint of the research division, mentoring, and developing faculty and staff while fostering a collaborative environment. Additionally, the Chief will play a key role in curriculum development, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and enhancing the division's national and international reputation. The department has a long-standing tradition of excellence in clinical care and research in multiple subspecialty areas of ophthalmology. Our faculty provides clinical services for patients at Yale Medicine Ophthalmology, the Dana Clinic at Yale New Haven Hospital, and the West Haven Veterans Affairs Hospital. We have a strong and competitive residency program, which consists of 15 residents, along with two fellowship programs. The Department is affiliated with the Yale New Haven Health System, a growing healthcare system including Yale-New Haven Hospital, Saint Raphael’s Hospital, Bridgeport Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, and Westerly Hospital. We have outpatient offices in New Haven, Guilford, Norwalk, Madison, Waterford, Greenwich, and Stratford. The Department is expanding into Fairfield County, New London County, and beyond. This is an outstanding opportunity for candidates who are interested in building a solid career in academic medicine in a superb setting for clinical practice, education, and research. The ideal candidate will be devoted to clinical excellence and have a firm commitment to the education of residents and medical students. Candidates should have an MD degree and be board-certified or board-eligible in ophthalmology and be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Connecticut.
