Principal Guidance and Trajectory Analysis Engineer - Lunar Permanence
Blue Origin is seeking a Principal Guidance and Trajectory Analysis Engineer to join the Lunar Permanence business unit. This role will contribute to the development of the Guidance, Navigation & Control system for the Transporter vehicle by designing and implementing on-board guidance algorithms and coordinating trajectory design analyses with the Mission Design team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in spacecraft guidance, including maneuver planning and targeting, as well as experience with astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, and attitude kinematics and dynamics. The candidate will provide technical leadership to coordinate mission-level trajectory design and derive guidance optimization efforts between GN&C and Mission Design. Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To Provide technical leadership to coordinate mission-level trajectory design and derive guidance optimization efforts between GN&C and Mission Design. Provide technical leadership to GN&C system design efforts for RPOD and orbital maneuvers in LEO, EEO, and NRHO. Lead the development of tooling pipelines for automated trajectory design and guidance algorithm optimization. Develop and maintain guidance algorithms for orbital maneuvers in various Earth and cis-lunar orbits. Perform trade studies for maneuver targeting sequences and nominal and contingency maneuvers for RPOD. Provide technical leadership to flight software and simulation through complete development lifecycle. Integrate and test software in SIL and HIL environments. Minimum Qualifications B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering or Physics with 10+ years of experience or M.S. with 8+ years of experience. Demonstrated subject matter expertise in spacecraft guidance, including maneuver planning and targeting. Understanding of relative orbital dynamics. Deep knowledge of astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, attitude kinematics, and dynamics. Desired Qualifications Ph.D. focused on spacecraft guidance and/or trajectory optimization. Experience coding in Rust.
