AEGIS SPY-1 Radar Transmitter Field Engineer role at Raytheon. Responsibilities
Travel to various Naval shipyards, CONUS and OCONUS, to support ORDALT installations and technical assistance efforts. Accept temporary assignments that involve at-sea support aboard U.S. Navy ships for AEGIS systems. Operate, maintain, align, troubleshoot, and repair SPY-1 Radar Transmitter Equipment and MK99 FCS aboard U.S. Navy AEGIS-class ships, land-based sites, or other locations using test equipment and ORTS. Participate in planning and execution phases of shipboard equipment installations. Analyze equipment failures to determine root causes and implement corrective actions. Perform radar system modifications, including ORDAlTs and CINs. Conduct backplane and chassis wiring modifications, and mechanical modifications to SPY radar and FCS hardware. Prepare detailed reports of equipment discrepancies with recommended solutions. Provide guidance and hands-on training to Navy technicians on SPY radar and MK99 FCS. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and maintain accurate performance and maintenance records. Extensive travel, including CONUS, OCONUS, and at-sea assignments. Lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks onboard Navy vessels. Qualifications You Must Have
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with minimal experience; experience can be substituted for education. Active and transferable U.S. government security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility. Formal training in Basic Electronics & Electricity, including RF, digital, and analog principles. Minimum six years of experience with the AEGIS Weapon System. Completion of Aegis “C” School for AEGIS SPY-1 Transmitter and for AEGIS FCS Transmitters. Experience interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics; experience with electronics, radar systems, test equipment, and cooling systems with diagnostic/repair abilities. Strong technical writing skills for AEGIS documentation and issue reporting to management and QA. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for coordination with peers, supervisors, and military personnel. Direct experience with AEGIS SPY-1 transmitter or MK 99 FCS. Knowledge of RF cable construction/repair; wiring, connectors, RF principles, and analog/digital circuitry. Proficiency in wire wrap, soldering, and use of hand tools; experience with ORTs. Familiarity with Navy shipboard safety standards and shipyard operations; prior international or overseas assignment experience. Electronics Technician Certification or equivalent credential. Excellent communication for cross-team coordination with customers, peers, and leadership. What We Offer
