Product Engineer, RF & Microwave
Job Description: In MACOM\'s MMIC Business Unit we design MMICs and IMAs for cellular, aerospace & defense, and other wireless applications. We are looking for an experienced RF/MMW Product Engineer with experience working with MMICs, waveguide components, power supplies, support PCBs, and test systems for RF & Millimeter Wave multi-chip modules. You will:
Take a leadership role in design for manufacturability for new product introduction
Facilitate new products transitions from engineering to manufacturing
Continuously improve manufacturing test processes
Liaise between design groups and Operations including but not limited to foundry, various internal manufacturing sites, and outsourced manufacturing partners to ensure engineering and production targets are achieved
Support and teach test technicians how to perform various written test procedures
Support Manufacturing Test for a variety of products, discrete devices to modules
Develop and coordinate activities focused on testing of products and systems
Develop and implement enhancements as part of continuous improvement
Document new test procedures as required
Analyze test data and write formal reports on findings
Monitor and investigate any yield issues arising from any stage in manufacturing and testing process
Conduct measurement systems analysis (gage R&R)
Analyze data using sound statistical methodology
Ensure all aspects of product manufacturing, including hardware, documentation, BOMs and costing are in place for the production release of a product
Ensure new product introduction is successful and on schedule
Support reliability team in new product qualification and failure analysis
Design/analyze RF & microwave test boards for automated test equipment
Initiate prototype builds and manage product characterization. You will design evaluation hardware and characterization fixtures, then direct or perform measurements
Generate manufacturing drawings and documentation
Update design rules as required
Lead peer review of design concepts
Cooperate with Project Manager in order to maintain an up-to-date project plan and schedule
Keep up to date and maintain passion for the latest manufacturing techniques and technologies
Advocate for Product Engineering as a function and core competency within the company
Provide customer support as required
Qualifications B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technologies or equivalent in a science or engineering discipline
5+ years working with RF/Microwave/Millimeter-Wave electronics
Bona fide connector and test plan enthusiast
Experience using lab equipment such as Vector Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, Multimeters, etc.
Familiarity with CAD platforms such as KiCAD, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Fusion360, TinkerCAD, nanoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.
Knowledgeable in drafting standards and best practices
Detail oriented and quality focused
Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Hands-on troubleshooting experience
Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines
Strong written and oral communication, organization and documentation skills; ability to build lasting partnerships in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to travel occasionally
Fluent in spoken and written English
