What to Expect

The Service Tooling Engineering team is responsible for the design to production of custom service tooling hardware to assist in the rapid development and maintenance of Tesla's Energy storage and charging solutions. This skilled and motivated individual will keep pushing this evolving energy industry forward by designing mechatronic battery lift systems, battery charge equipment, user interfacing, low voltage communication protocols, communication equipment, circuits to ensure user safety, signal conditioning, and much more. What You'll Do

Own and support existing software and hardware tools by scaling them for use across the entire engineering organization worldwide while maintaining reliability Participate in next generation feature and tool development, system architecture definition, end-to-end implementation from early prototype to full production release Hands-on with hardware bring up, build, and enforce component validation for delivering robust, functional code Drive automation of EOL, field and manufacturing procedures to remove human error Develop time critical code using ADC, PWM for power controls and battery management Ability to travel to commissioning sites, containment sites, and Giga factories 10-15% of the time Develop self-test functions for equipment with embedded systems that manufacturers and users can use to diagnose issues What You'll Bring

2-3+ years of reading and creating electrical schematics (Wiring and PCBA) Experience shipping code, receiving customer feedback and being relentless ensuring their experience is positive Experience documenting your firmware design and creating specifications plus designing and working with digital communication buses (CAN, Ethernet, RS-485, USB, SPI, I2C, etc.) Understanding of key analog components such as MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, etc. Embedded integration and programming of DSPs, microcontrollers, and programmable logic devices Experience with proper management of GitHub repositories, ST Cube IDE, and overall management of FW release management Desire to have test driven development experience using unit testing, software in the loop, and hardware in the loop methodologies. Our developers participate significantly in firmware testing, so a validation mindset is required Compensation and Benefits

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
