Under the direct supervision of the Building Maintenance Superintendent, the Plumber is primarily responsible for leading and executing plumbing-related maintenance and repair activities across all StartCare-owned and -operated facilities. Serving as the plumbing liaison between site maintenance staff, vendors, contractors, and administrative personnel, the Plumber ensures that all plumbing systems are operating efficiently and in full compliance with applicable New York State and City codes and regulations. Responsibilities
Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems in residential and commercial buildings. Inspect and troubleshoot plumbing issues and systems, providing effective solutions. Supervise and mentor junior plumbers and apprentices, ensuring adherence to industry standards. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal plumbing codes and regulations. Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each job. Communicate with departmental leaders to explain plumbing issues, provide estimates, and deliver outstanding customer service. Collaborate with other tradespeople and contractors on job sites. Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and safety practices. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications & Competencies
Valid Plumber’s license in New York State. Minimum of 7 years of experience in plumbing, with at least two (2) years as a registered journeyman. High School diploma (GED) and/or Vocational School Certification. Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, fixtures, and machinery. Familiarity with plumbing codes, regulations, and safety practices. Excellent communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Details
