Position Title: New Grad - Mechanical Engineer

We want to learn from you! Our teams at Symbotic value the early career talent that helps us solve critical issues in creative and innovative ways. We are seeking a new grad from an accredited university for this opportunity. By joining Symbotic, new grads will get to be a part of an established team to help work on solutions and problem solve on real projects. New grads will be exposed to extensive training and mentorship from our leaders while being encouraged to leverage their unique ideas and perspective.

What you’ll do

Design and Development: Conceptualize, design, and develop complex electromechanical systems for our mobile robots using SolidWorks.

Analysis and Optimization: Perform analysis, including FEA and tolerance analysis, to optimize designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and product success.

Problem-Solving: Identify and troubleshoot design challenges, implement effective solutions, and drive continuous improvement.

Communication: Clearly communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences; contribute to a collaborative team environment and a culture of learning.

Hands-on Engineering: Actively participate in prototyping, building, testing, and iterating on designs.

Documentation: Create clear and accurate dimensional drawings per ANSI Y14.5 standards with GD&T; create and manage BOMs and ECOs in PLM.

Travel: Travel up to 15%.

What you’ll need

Bachelor\'s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or related field.

Strong foundation in mechanical design principles and hands-on experience with electromechanical systems.

Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred); experience with FEA tools (SolidWorks Simulation or Ansys).

Ability to select and integrate components such as motors, sensors, and actuators.

Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, casting, sheet metal, plastics).

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Passion for robotics, automation, and innovation.

Preferred qualifications

Experience in industrial robotics, automation, or material handling.

Knowledge of PLM systems.

Experience with design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA).

Our Environment

This is an onsite position.

Travel up to 50% of the time.

The employee must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive to client and other locations.

The employee must comply with all safety requirements and protocols when working at a site or testing center.

The base salary range for this position in the Bay Area, California is $105,000 - $130,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonus and equity may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits based on the position offered. This information is provided per the California Salary Transparency Law.
