Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer - R10205173 at Northrop Grumman. This role leads the structural and thermal analysis of laser and optical systems for handheld, ground, and airborne products within the Mission Systems sector in Apopka, FL. Responsibilities

Running Structural FEA/Simulations using ANSYS and/or Thermal FEA/Simulations using ANSYS and/or IcePak Creating or modifying mechanical models using 3D CAD software such as CREO and/or NX Performing structural and/or thermal hand calculations using Excel, Matlab, or Python Generating reports and summarizing simulations/analysis results and presenting to stakeholders Based on results, recommending generation of Problem Reports, Change Notifications, and/or Engineering Change Notices and processing them through the Configuration Management database Basic Qualifications

B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM Degree and 8 years of related, professional experience; or a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM Degree with 6 years of related/professional experience Experienced in the use of 3D CAD Proficiency to do Structural and/or Thermal Finite Element Analysis in ANSYS Experience leading mechanical design activities US Citizenship is required Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. Must be able to obtain this level of clearance for continued employment. Preferred Qualifications

Active Secret Clearance Proficiency in optical-mechanical analysis Knowledgeable in the use of CREO and/or NX CAD experience Experience in Icepak and/or Thermal Desktop Knowledge of analysis required for Space Systems Familiarity with ANSI Y14.5M GD&T specifications Experience with military specifications Experience with MATLAB and/or Python scripts Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $107,800.00 - $161,800.00 The above salary range is a general guideline; Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus. Annual bonuses may be awarded based on individual contributions and company results. Long Term Incentives may be available for VP or Director levels.
