About the job
The Snowsports School Director oversees all aspects of Hatley Pointe’s ski and snowboard instruction programs. This role ensures that every guest—from first-time skiers to advanced riders—receives an exceptional, safe, and memorable learning experience. The Director manages instructors, develops training programs, and works closely with other mountain departments to deliver world-class service and drive revenue.
Leadership & Staff Management
Recruit, hire, train, and schedule all ski and snowboard instructors, supervisors, and support staff.
Foster a positive, inclusive work environment and maintain high staff morale throughout the season.
Operations & Safety
Oversee daily Snowsports School operations, including check-in, scheduling, and lesson fulfillment.
Enforce all mountain safety policies and risk management procedures.
Maintain instructor-to-student ratios and ensure proper supervision of children’s programs.
Prepare and manage department budgets, track revenue, and control expenses.
Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to promote lessons, seasonal packages, and special events.
Monitor performance metrics such as lesson volume, guest satisfaction, and staff productivity.
Guest Experience
Serve as the primary contact for guest concerns related to lessons, resolving issues quickly and professionally.
Maintain a highly visible presence on the mountain, modeling exceptional service.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in ski/snowboard school management or similar leadership role.
Advanced PSIA and/or AASI certification (or equivalent) strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of snowsports instruction techniques and industry safety standards.
Excellent organizational, communication, and customer-service skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings during the ski season.
