THE POSITION
Under general
direction
of the
Director of Planning and Maintenance , this position provides assistance to the
Strathearn Park Recreation Coordinator
in the
day-to-day operations
of
Strathearn Park . The role focuses on the
acquisition, preservation,
and
maintenance
of
historical artifacts and documents , emphasizing the
history of Simi Valley and surrounding areas . Additionally, this position may support the
Simi Valley Historical Society
and occasionally deliver
historical presentations . Work hours
are initially from
8:00 am to Noon
or
1:00 pm to 5:00 pm ,
Monday through Friday . The actual schedule may be adjusted in agreement with the
Park District . EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to: Routine artifact intake and significance assessment Cataloging antiquities in museum management software (Past-Perfect) Maintaining digital photo archives Managing historical artifacts and creating displays Assisting with public and informational requests Supporting Wi-Fi info and virtual tours Park site management assistance Performing general office and clerical work Leading historical park tours Supporting special events for the Park District and Historical Society Assisting with volunteer docent recruitment and training Occasionally attending meetings of related historical and cultural organizations The position may perform other related tasks as assigned.
