Job Description: The Department of Anthropology and Development Studies (DADS) consists of two subjects, Anthropology and Development Studies. We offer various degrees and courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in these subjects. Our undergraduate classes in both subjects are large, ranging from 600 students in some first-year classes to 150 in third year. We offer online and blended approaches and run a weekly postgraduate seminar for all MA and PhD students. Responsibilities: Teach courses in Anthropology and/or Development Studies at UG and Hons levels. Supervise Hons, MA, and PhD students in Anthropology and/or Development Studies. Plan, conduct, and publish quality research in peer-reviewed accredited international journals. Secure research funding. Offer strategic intellectual and academic leadership across the Department. Participate in the development of curricula and teaching programmes. Minimum Requirements: PhD in Anthropology or Development Studies, or a related discipline. Teaching and supervision experience at UG and PG levels. Publications in accredited national and international journals. Competencies and Behavioural Attributes: Good interpersonal and communication skills. Good planning and administration skills. Ethos: Must be positive, driven, competent, collegial, with a critical intellectual attitude, and professional. Recommendations: Academic monograph published or nearly published. Involvement in local and international research networks. Hold a critical and multi-disciplinary approach to anthropology, African studies, and development studies.
