The City of Lampasas is currently accepting applications for the position of Parks & Recreation Director.
Summary of Position
Oversees operations of the City’s parks, recreation, and cemetery department, including supervising department personnel, managing construction and maintenance projects, and preparing and monitoring annual department budgets.
Salary range is $71,101.97 to $99,542.76, DOQ, plus excellent benefits.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
general management principles; budgeting principles and procedures; standard office practices and procedures; turf and horticulture management; recreation and pool practices; park maintenance practices and procedures; and proper application of pesticides and herbicides. Skill/Ability to:
effectively read manuals and blueprints; use mathematical calculations to estimate material quantities and project costs; interpret policies and procedures; analyze data; operate computer, including word processing and spreadsheet software; develop, organize, motivate, and effectively utilize staff; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public. Acceptable Experience and Training
o High school graduation, or its equivalent (Bachelor’s in Parks Administration preferred), plus five years of experience, including two years of supervisory or management responsibility; o or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certificates and Licenses Required o Valid Texas Drivers’ License o Herbicide/Pesticide Applicator’s license - must be obtained within one year of hire; o Certified Pool Operator (CPO) - must be obtained within one year of hire; o Playground Inspection license is desirable How to apply Applications may either be submitted online at www.lampasas.org or submitted at the City Administration Building located at 312 East Third Street, Lampasas, TX 76550.
