**IMPORTANT APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:****Job Description****DESCRIPTION**The Department of Counseling at Montclair State University invites applications for the Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor. Appointment includes teaching four courses per semester, primarily in the CACREP accredited master’s-level Addiction Counseling program. The faculty member will also teach graduate courses across the curriculum for prospective counselors in the four concentrations. The department seeks a candidate who is committed to preparing future counselors to effectively work with diverse individuals and communities, actively identifying and addressing systemic barriers within the counseling field, and integrating culturally responsive practices into their teaching and supervision. Faculty members are expected to teach, advise, and mentor students; contribute to accreditation processes; participate in department committees; participate in community engagement; and meet qualifications to teach in a CACREP-accredited program.The University is committed to the success of teaching faculty through opportunities for promotion and professional development to support long-term success and flourishing at the University.Position is a two-year, ten-month, non-tenure track (NTT) appointment, with eligibility for reappointment based on established NTT procedures.**THE DEPARTMENT OF COUNSELING**The Counseling Department enrolls approximately 500 students in our master’s, post-master’s/certificate, and doctoral programs, supported by six professional staff members and 13 full-time faculty. The master’s program holds CACREP accreditation in three of its concentrations (Addictions Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and School Counseling) and also offers a 36-credit hour Student Affairs in Higher Education program. The doctoral program, the first CACREP-accredited counseling doctoral program in the New York City metropolitan area, is in its fifteenth year. The department is home to the Community Counseling Clinic, which provides services to the surrounding community and serves as a training site for many students. Dedicated to fostering inclusive, ethical practice, the department prepares counselors and counselor educators to support individuals, families, and communities with a justice-oriented approach.**THE COLLEGE FOR COMMUNITY HEALTH**The College for Community Health (CCHL) at Montclair State University addresses pressing health inequities in New Jersey, the region, and beyond. In synergy with existing groups and organizations, leveraging the university's strengths, and expanding academic offerings to meet critical health workforce needs, CCHL is leading the way to healthier people and communities, establishing itself as a key transformational leader in the New Jersey region and beyond.**QUALIFICATIONS****Required:*** Earned doctorate in Counseling/Counselor Education or related field; if doctorate is not in Counseling/Counselor Education, experience as a full-time faculty member in a Counseling/Counselor Education program* Professional credential and experience in addiction counseling* Ability to teach in all counseling concentrations* Evidence of excellence in teaching**Preferred:*** Experience using digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning, including teaching online* Record of success teaching in a diverse environment; minimum of three years of teaching experience* Experience as a professional counselor working in addiction counseling**STARTING DATE**
