Cal Poly Pomona invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences. The Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences (AVS) is the only department of its type in Southern California. The AVS department offers a four-year curriculum in two undergraduate majors (Animal Science and Animal Health Science), leading to a Bachelor of Science degree. The successful candidate will provide instruction in general Animal Science courses, including but not limited to: Animal Nutrition, Animal Genetics, and Animal Production. They will also engage in scholarly activity such as research and publication, etc. in their area of animal expertise with undergraduate and graduate students. Minimum requirements include : Doctorate degree in Animal Science, or related field, including PhD or DVM or equivalent. A commitment and a record of contributions to student success through applicant’s teaching, scholarship, or service. Ability to provide instruction in general Animal Science courses. Ability to engage in scholarly activity. Evidence of collaborative work. Demonstrated commitment to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. Preferred/Desired Qualifications: Post-doctoral (or residency) experience and/or prior teaching experience at the university level. Preference for specialization in ruminant, swine, and/or poultry nutrition. Demonstrated ability to assist with instruction and management of other programs in the department. Demonstrated success in scholarly activities. Demonstrated experience in animal industries and professional organizations.
