Talascend is currently seeking a Design and Release Engineer - Brakes/Steering for a leading automotive manufacturer located in Southfield, Michigan.
OVERVIEW
As a design and release support engineer, you will be supporting components such as brake calipers, rotors, brake lines, brake hoses, and electrical harness to develop and build world leading electric vehicles. You will engage with other interfacing system engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver the designs from initial concept to production.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support design tasks for electro-hydraulic brake system components from initial concept to production Help with documentations of requirements for components based on desired vehicle functions and attributes Lead technical development activities with supplier, drive design solutions with challenging time, cost, technical requirements constraints Support system and component DFMEAs and DVPs and contribute to system failure mode analyses Perform detailed assessments of bolted connections to ensure compliance with structural and safety standards Perform structural analysis for safety critical components Resolve virtual build issues through benchmarking and support manufacturing teams with poke-yoke (error-proofing) solutions Utilize CAD and stack ups to verify spatial constraints, clearances, and packaging feasibility Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles to validate part fit, form, and function Create, track, and drive closure of engineering change requests to support design updates and continuous improvement Contribute to cost saving and continuous improvement roadmaps for current and future vehicles
QUALIFICATIONS
BS/BEng, or equivalent experience, in Mechanical Engineering 5+ overall years of experience in the field Minimum 5 years experience with knowledge of chassis and braking system Minimum 5 years strong understanding of safety critical automotive mechatronics and hydraulic systems Minimum 5 years experience and proficiency with CATIA V5/V6 and 3DX Experience with design and release of safety critical components from concept to production Excellent 3D CAD skills Project and supplier management skills Design release engineering experience, including engineering change management and project management experience 5+ years of automotive industry experience Experience with requirements management and verification planning
