Island Movers Job Description POSITION: HGO Operations Supervisor – Nights and Weekends REPORTS TO: HGOGeneral Manager FLSA: Exempt (Non-Union) POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for monitoring the return of the crews – inspecting all vehicles and notating any damages, checking in all equipment when the crews return to the base yard, and ensuring that all paperwork and payments are turned in to Dispatch. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Coordinate with the warehouse crew to unload all van packs from the trucks, ensure that all vehicles are parked properly, and sufficiently fueled for the next day. Inspect the yard and box repair area to ensure that it is secure and clear of any hazards. Conduct and complete investigations and all related paperwork/documents for claims, complaints, accidents and injuries. Complete administrative duties, which include but are not limited to, inputting data for fuel log, checking in drivers’ logs (making sure BL’s have the proper inserts) and Driver Inspection Reports, and inputting medcard and payroll information for affected employees by the end of each pay period. Responsible for closing out the credit card machine, turning on the alarms and securing the facility. Perform other duties as directed by the HGO General Manager. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: · Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent Experience/Skills/Knowledge: · 1 year of freight/transportation background · 3 years of Management/Supervisory experience · Have a working knowledge of software applications: o MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer · Be familiar with Oahu streets and geographical locations · Be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task · Possess strong interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of employees, vendors and clients o Ability to persuade and negotiate terms with staff, and clients o Ability to deal with frustrated customers to remedy concerns · Possess excellent decision-making skills with quick responsiveness to customers · Strong understanding of risk management · CPR and First Aid certified PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: · Bachelor’s of Science degree in Administration Experience/Skills/Knowledge: · 2 years of management experience in the trucking industry · 3 years of dispatching experience · Be able to manage people and give direction in order to complete tasks on time and accurately · Knowledge of vehicular maintenance and/or operating equipment, i.e., forklifts, tractors MENTAL, PHYSICAL and COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to do tedious and detailed work daily Required to complete multiple priorities with time-sensitive deadlines Work under minimal supervision and high-pressure environments Apply logic and reasoning to solve complex problems Use sound judgment and discretion in performing work duties and working cooperatively with others Must be flexible and able to adapt to change Requires excellent oral and written communication skills Requires long periods of sitting at a desk, frequent computer use and speaking with various individuals via phones and two-way radios Requires lifting 25 lbs., bending, climbing in and out of vehicles, walking through Company’s premises to secure premises and ensure safety measures are followed. Understand and enforce Company’s safety program. WORKING CONDITIONS: Primarily indoors, air-conditioned office with parts of the night spent on loading dock. NORMAL WORK HOURS: Hours of work are based on the operational needs of the division. May require working on weekends and holidays per direction of HGO General Manager. GUIDELINES: Follows and adheres to all internal policies and procedures, House and Safety Rules, and any employee guidelines if applicable.
