Cybersecurity Engineer III
to support a federal customer. This role requires a TS-SCI CI Poly and is on-site in Reston, Virginia.
This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise cybersecurity solutions that enable the organization to identify, protect, detect, respond, and recover from threats. The ideal candidate brings advanced technical expertise, hands-on engineering skills, and leadership in developing secure architectures in compliance-driven environments.
Responsibilities Plan, design, and implement cybersecurity solutions aligned to organizational policies, standards, and mission requirements. Define and develop security requirements through risk assessments, threat modeling, testing, and system analysis. Develop integration plans to secure existing infrastructures and incorporate emerging technologies. Create and maintain action plans covering system hardening, monitoring, incident response, disaster recovery, and governance. Utilize tools such as SIEM, DLP, IPS, and other cybersecurity platforms to develop security capabilities and response strategies. Review architectures and systems to validate compliance with security guidelines and industry best practices. Monitor and evaluate cyber threat intelligence to proactively adjust security postures. Provide subject matter expertise in cybersecurity engineering, often serving as a lead for a work group. Collaborate with stakeholders across IT, security, and business units to ensure consistent, effective security implementation. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field. 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering or equivalent technical role. Strong knowledge of risk assessment, system hardening, incident response, and disaster recovery planning. Proficiency with SIEM, DLP, IPS, and related security tools. Demonstrated experience reviewing and aligning security solutions with enterprise guidelines and compliance frameworks. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences. Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting cybersecurity solutions in federal IT environments. Familiarity with NIST, FedRAMP, and other U.S. government cybersecurity standards. Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional technical projects.
