Gene Therapy Account Manager (GTAM)

to support our Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and Transfusion-dependent thalassemia (TDT) Heme Business Unit. The GTAM will be a national team member focusing on Key Account Management (60%) and Demand Generation (40%), promoting the safe and effective use of Casgevy to medical providers per assigned coverage plans. The GTAM serves as a single point of contact for Activated Treatment Centers (ATCs) and manages associated accounts. This role requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, ownership of driving progress and positive change, and the ability to work effectively in live and virtual settings. The successful candidate will have a strong clinical understanding of cell and gene therapy with the ability to manage complex treatment logistics, a proven track record in account management and cultivating customer engagement, and experience working with IDNs/ACOs/large community and government accounts. They should think strategically, thrive in a fast-changing environment, and possess exceptional organizational and time management skills. This is a full-time, field-based role supporting key territories across the Central and/or Western US, with preference for candidates based in Tennessee (Nashville or New Orleans). Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for ATCs and affiliated referral networks; support ongoing training and education after onboarding and activation, ensuring order readiness across ATC activities (e.g., patient services, reimbursement pathways, and site operations during and after activation). Coordinate Vertex activities related to ATC activities with cross-functional partners to ensure seamless site coordination. Promote the safe and effective use of Casgevy in accordance with the product label and company training and policies. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders (HCPs, C-Suite level personnel, administrators, pharmacists, care coordinators) at care and referring sites to drive awareness and adoption of Casgevy. Build and execute comprehensive account plans for ATCs, referral networks, and community practices; track and report progress toward KPIs and patient journey milestones. Engage with referral hospital and community-based HCPs focusing on hemoglobinopathies to broaden awareness and adoption of gene therapy. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure timely access to critical solutions and support throughout the patient journey. Provide appropriate and timely feedback to Vertex cross-functional partners regarding account-level business trends, changes in the therapeutic landscape, business issues and opportunities. Maintain clinical expertise in Hematology, including SCD, TDT, and HSCT; operate ethically and compliantly to achieve objectives. Required Education/Experience

Bachelor's Degree is required. Minimum of 8 years of experience in key account management, sales management, account management, or rare disease product launches in Biotech, Device, Laboratory, or specialty field sales (e.g., Cell and Gene therapy, Hematology, Transplant, Oncology/Immunology, or related SCD/BMT/Cell & Gene settings). Basic knowledge of HIPAA compliance; experience with hospital finance, claims processing, and/or billing/coding is preferred. Understanding of PA process, denial management, product acquisition via specialty pharmacy, buy-and-bill, IV infusion coding, and reimbursement across multiple sites of care; knowledge of buy-and-bill and specialty pharmacy networks, managed care, and government payers. Knowledge of infused-biologic therapies for chronic, rare diseases. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100% to assigned coverage locations. Pay Range:

$156,000 - $234,000 Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is a reasonable base salary estimate at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and equity awards; overtime may be available where required by law. Actual base salary will be based on skills, experience, and other factors.
