As a Principal Scientist within Cell Therapy Analytical Development, this energetic, collaborative, and motivated individual will establish a new function focused on Analytical Technologies to increase process support efficiencies. This matrixed leader will be responsible for identifying bottlenecks within current analytical protocols and practices, independently propose projects to address the bottlenecks, and then rapidly develop and implement the solutions within the development organization. Key Responsibilities
Hands on development of fit-for-purpose cell therapy-specific methods to support in-process development and early-stage initiatives (flow cytometry, functional cell-based assays and molecular measures) Work with key stakeholders within the organization to identify bottlenecks across most analytical methods used to support vector and drug product development initiatives Partner with analytical development subject matter experts to rapidly identify, develop, and deploy analytical technologies within the development organization Continuously reassess and re-develop (if needed) analytical technologies as new cell therapy programs are moved into development Present and provide updates to stakeholders and senior leadership on technology development solutions Collaborate cross-functionally with department peers, research, process development and CMC for solution(s) endorsement and implementation Qualifications & Experience
Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell/Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of relevant biotech or pharmaceutical experience or Bachelors degree and 15+ years of experience Profound understanding of cell therapy-specific methods used to interrogate genotype, phenotype and function of autologous and allogeneic cell therapy products is required Experience implementing automation and high throughput analytical solutions to support large volume testing is required Hands-on experience characterizing non-viral gene delivery platform is desired Previous experience either directly, or through a matrixed role, leading high performing scientists is desired Motivation and drive to acquire new skills and knowledge Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills Compensation Overview
