Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager - Public Works Role Description:
Huitt-Zollars, Inc has a full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer (Eng IV) with five+ years of experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer for our Houston West office. This role will work in our Public Works Practice Area and provide leadership, guide business development and project management on local Houston (and beyond as needed) engineering projects. Location:

Bachelor\'s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) Responsibilities
Serve as Civil Engineer in the development of design schematics, construction plans, specifications and estimates Coordinate with EITs, designers and drafters Review shop drawings, perform field observations, and facilitate the construction administration Support project proposals, scopes, budgets, and manage execution and tracking of projects Complete projects within client specifications, budgets and schedules Coordinate online meetings, preparation of meeting agendas, and distribution of meeting materials Work on all types of projects, with a focus on site development, from concept design through construction documents Site development includes grading, floodplain mitigation, drainage, drainage detention, paving, and utilities; coordinate with other disciplines within HZI and sub-consultants Coordinate with and direct engineers-in-training, CADD technicians, and project support staff to prepare project documents for permitting and bidding Provide construction administration support (contractor submittal reviews, RFIs, invoice reviews, progress meetings, site visits as necessary) Support development of scopes of work, labor hour estimates, and project scheduling; communicate with clients as directed Key Responsibilities
Undertakes Project Manager responsibilities for major projects ($2.0+ million annual billing) Prepares and follows comprehensive project planning and ensures proper staff assignment Reviews project reports and metrics; leads projects to profitability, schedule, quality and client satisfaction Cultivates client relationships Adheres to Huitt-Zollars\' business processes and weekly rhythm Pursues new business opportunities and assists leads in proposals; contributes to win strategy Follows QMS and quality initiatives; ensures quality control on projects and operations Mentors junior staff; maintains current job knowledge and skills Role Competencies

Bachelor\'s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) Registered Professional Engineer 5+ years of civil engineering design experience in Public Works Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel and Word Ability to work independently in a team and manage multiple projects with limited supervision Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to present in meetings Ability to design printed and digital engineering documents Ability to communicate technical issues and design ideas clearly This position is also required to adhere to Huitt-Zollars\' Core Value and Leadership Competencies.
