Overview
The Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners (WVTCP) Joint Venture consisting of VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Walsh Construction has been selected to construct the $2.9BN Design Build Red Line Extension (RLE) project – the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The RLE Mainline Design-Build (MDB) Project will extend the CTA's Red Line by 5.6 miles, from the existing terminal at 95th/Dan Ryan south to 130th Street and Doty Avenue. We are currently seeking Field Engineers with expertise in the following areas: Utility Deep foundation Segmental Substructure/ Superstructure Concrete Equipment Trackwork Civil Work Traction Power Testing, Inspection & Commissioning Structural Steel Signals Systems Integration/ Requirements Management Role and Responsibilities
As a Field Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the Area Manager, Project Engineer and Superintendents in the field and office. Extract quantities and activities from drawings to build schedules. Coordinate with Design/Construction Engineers for schedule establishment. Create and maintain Design/Purchase/Construction schedules based on requirements from multiple departments. Update, maintain, and revise monthly and weekly schedules and reports. Compare monthly schedules for changes, delays, or accelerations and report findings. Participate in Time Impact Analysis to analyze and implement mitigation procedures to the project schedule. Identify warnings and risks to the project to mitigate impact. Analyze monthly schedules and prepare reports for dispute resolution. Assist in the preparation of baseline CPM Schedule and support change order implications regarding time impacts and delays. Assist in analyzing competitive subcontractor and supplier bids; populate schedule with resource and cost information. Support MOT design review throughout development, coordinating with disciplines and stakeholders. Assist in development of design drawings and provide technical input as needed. Review required Job Hazard Analysis to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. Salary
$80,000 - $100,000 Work Environment
Involves a dynamic and challenging work environment. Includes tasks such as maintaining and repairing heavy machinery, ensuring equipment operates efficiently, and adhering to safety protocols on construction sites. Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and reflective vests when on-site. Physical Demands
Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Walking and standing while in-office or on-site. Occasional climbing on and off equipment and bending to inspect. Qualifications
Required Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management from an accredited institution. 1-3 years’ engineering experience in civil and structural works. Ability to interface and effectively communicate with others. Proven skill to identify and mitigate scheduling issues for simple and complex construction projects. Proficient in generation and maintenance of cost and resource-loaded schedules. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to self-prioritize and self-start projects and tasks. Ability to work under pressure and multi-task in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. In-depth knowledge of traffic management principles and safety regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective coordination and stakeholder engagement. Preferred Familiarity with CTA standards is strongly preferred. Previous MOT, Utilities, and/or Roadway heavy civil construction experience preferred. Company and Benefits
