Overview

Senior Structural Analyst - New Shepard at Blue Origin. Role part of the New Shepard program focused on structural analysis for Crew Capsule and related systems. You will oversee and perform structural analysis, own verification activities for design changes to improve safety, reliability, performance, and reduce operational cost. You will also support disposition and repair development for manufacturing non-conformance and service damage. As an Analyst, you will coach, mentor, and technically assist other team members. This position will contribute to safe, repeatable spaceflight and the mission to lower the cost of access to space. The New Shepard team is headquartered in Kent, WA; relocation preferences may apply, with on-site locations considered. Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

Detailed hand calculations and FEM analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures Documentation of stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings/documents Deep understanding of repair methods and analytical practices for both composite and metallic structures Providing technical guidance on design concepts (risk vs. cost vs. performance) Maintain and report on technical status Support cross-organizational teams with input for production activities and configuration development Analysis checks for designers and junior structural analysts in stress/stability/fracture analysis and best practices Improve enterprise analysis capabilities such as automating model creation, strength checks, and analysis report generation Minimum Qualifications

B.S. degree or higher in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or related field 10+ years of experience in aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures Experience with free-body diagrams and internal/reaction load derivation Bolted joint calculations (preload, stiffness, shear-tension, insert pull-out, etc.) Proficiency with analysis codes and reading/manipulating input files (OptiStruct, ANSYS) Expertise in Altair HyperWorks FEM modeling techniques (boundary conditions, bolted connections, contact, verification) Mesh generation and understanding of element types Knowledge of engineering materials and their applications to optimal structures Strong experience with classical/aerospace analysis methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, Blodgett, etc.) Experience analyzing composite and/or metallic structures (sandwich panels, skin-stringer, fittings, etc.) Experience with stability-critical structures (local/global buckling, crippling) Experience with development/qualification testing (requirements, setup, predictions, conduct/monitoring) Ability to communicate and collaborate across a varied team Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with composite failure modes and standard test methods (in-plane, interlaminar, shear, fracture) Experience with analyzing/dispositioning non-conformances Experience with Non-Destructive Evaluation techniques Knowledge of aerospace/launch vehicle structural requirements Experience with analysis of Mechanical Systems Experience with analysis of Hydraulic/Pneumatic Systems Loads development experience Experience with Creo (ProEngineer Wildfire 4 or greater) Compensation and Benefits
