Hospital Information Systems Responsibilities

Oversees the operation and continuous improvement of all IT revenue cycle systems and interfaces across multiple hospitals and physician practices, including Patient Financial Services, Charge Capture and Reconciliation, Registration, Scheduling, Patient Throughput, Health Information Management, Electronic Document and Signature Capture, Visitor Management, online payment solutions, Document Imaging, Diagnostic Coding, Deficiency Management, and Enterprise Master Patient Index. Leads initiatives to crosswalk data among diverse systems in support of Revenue Cycle operations. Manages integration and support for a comprehensive suite of revenue cycle applications. Directs the evaluation, selection, implementation, and upgrade of technologies designed to automate tasks, centralize processes, and drive operational efficiency. Analyzes data to identify trends and develop strategies to optimize revenue capture and minimize payment denials or delays. Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and payer requirements and coordinates the provision of required data to regulatory bodies and partner agencies. Serves as a liaison between Revenue Cycle and IT departments to facilitate integration and uphold data integrity. Collaborates with clinical, financial, and administrative teams to streamline workflows, enhance patient experience, and optimize financial operations. Manages vendor and partner relationships, conducting invoice reconciliations against completed deliverables. Supervises teams of system administrators and analysts responsible for maintaining revenue cycle technologies and supporting related initiatives. Requires proficiency in project management and strong collaboration to support enterprise-level initiatives, including the Office of the PMO. Plans resource allocation in alignment with organizational priorities and projects. Delivers effective leadership and supervision for direct reports and staff, including staffing, professional growth, HR management, resource allocation, training, and ensuring compliance with standards, policies, and best practices. Maintains software portfolios and IT support within ancillary areas; manages inventories of relevant equipment. Fosters a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration. Leads development of system requirements, procurement, functional specifications, implementation, performance monitoring, enhancements, workflow assessments, outcome reviews, and recommendations for process redesign. Partners with Revenue Cycle Departments in requirements analysis, planning, selection, budgeting, design, implementation, and ongoing support of systems aligned with organizational strategic objectives. Coordinates Revenue Cycle system operations with other directors to prioritize initiatives and ensure seamless end-user support; actively contributes to SBMIT’s strategic and operational objectives as part of the SBMIT leadership team. Oversees departmental capital planning, including application upgrades, innovation, and needs assessments, and oversees departmental capital and operational budgets. Adheres to organizational security policies and guidelines and develops contingency procedures for critical Revenue Cycle Applications. Participates in on-call rotations as required. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business, Information Technology, or related field. Eight (8) years of progressive experience in healthcare revenue cycle roles within a health system (hospitals, ambulatory services, and physician practices). Three (3) years minimum experience in managing and leading large or impactful revenue cycle teams. Extensive experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations, including systems expertise, patient registration and throughput, health information management, claims processing and reimbursement, payer contracts, and applicable regulations. Leadership in system implementation and conversions with advanced proficiency in revenue cycle management software. Experience with core components of Revenue Cycle Applications (Registration, Scheduling, Acute Case Management, Health Information Management, Medical Coding, Eligibility, Document Scanning, Patient Accounting). Experience with integrating Electronic Health Record Systems and Revenue Cycle Applications; knowledge of third-party system integrations (eligibility verification, claims submission/remittance, encoder tools, analytics, online scheduling, touchless check-in).

Strong background in patient throughput and charge reconciliation processes; experience with EMPI. Experience leading or developing specifications for RFPs or similar bid procurement processes for IT projects. Proficient understanding of project management methodologies. Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, and change management abilities. Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Cerner Soarian and/or Oracle Health Patient Accounting Revenue Cycle products. Experience with Oracle Health Cerner Millennium Electronic Health Record. Experience with Athena IDX Registration, Scheduling, and Billing. Familiarity with NYS procurement processes. Experience with multiple platforms and systems listed (e.g., Passagepoint Visitor Management, various analytics, automation, and integration tools). Special Notes
