Overview
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of a third-party logistics (3PL) warehouse operation. This role ensures that all customer accounts are serviced accurately, efficiently, and on time. The Warehouse Manager oversees daily operations including inventory management, order fulfillment, invoicing, and staff supervision while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction, cost control, and compliance with safety standards. Responsibilities
3PL Operations & Inventory Management
Manage the daily flow of goods for multiple customers, ensuring all Service Level Agreements are met. Maintain accurate inventory across all client accounts and conduct regular cycle counts and reconciliations. Monitor inbound and outbound activities, ensuring timely receipt, storage, picking, packing, and shipping. Optimize warehouse layout, slotting, and processes to maximize efficiency and throughput.
Financial Accuracy & Invoicing
Review and validate billing data for customer accounts, ensuring accuracy of invoicing for storage, handling, and value-added services. Partner with accounting and customer service teams to resolve discrepancies quickly. Track labor and operating expenses to ensure profitability and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Customer Service & Issue Resolution
Act as the primary warehouse contact for customer representatives. Ensure customer needs are met, proactively communicating order status, shortages, or delays. Investigate and resolve service issues, claims, and complaints promptly and professionally. Collaborate with account managers to identify process improvements and enhance customer experience.
Staff Leadership & Development
Recruit, train, and manage warehouse staff to support multiple customer requirements. Assign daily tasks, set clear expectations, and monitor performance to meet productivity targets. Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and implement corrective actions as necessary. Promote a positive, safety-oriented culture that encourages teamwork and accountability.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards across all warehouse activities. Conduct routine inspections and maintain safety documentation, including SDS and emergency plans. Lead safety meetings and training to minimize workplace incidents.
Equipment & Facility Management
Oversee proper use and maintenance of warehouse equipment, coordinating repairs and inspections. Ensure the facility is clean, organized, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Communication & Reporting
Provide daily/weekly operational updates to management and customers as required. Maintain open communication with procurement, transportation, and sales teams. Generate and analyze performance metrics such as order accuracy, on-time shipping, and cost per order.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred. Proven experience managing a 3PL or distribution center environment. Strong analytical and mathematical skills for inventory reconciliation, billing, and labor planning. Proficiency with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), TMS, invoicing platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple customer requirements. simultaneously. Knowledge of safety, quality, and compliance standards in warehousing and logistics.
