The University of Miami UHealth Department of SCCC - Administration has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager, Research Support (Data Science) in Miami. The incumbent will be responsible for carrying out tasks in accordance with all strategic initiatives and objectives to fulfill the mission and vision of the University of Miami and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (Sylvester). Projects will be defined by the Associate Director for Data Science, in collaboration with the Sylvester Director, Project Management (Research Administration). The incumbent in this position will be responsible for all aspects of the project life cycle (initiation, planning, execution, control, and close). The Project Manager will be responsible for assembling project teams, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of projects. The Project Manager takes projects from original concept through final implementation-interfacing with all areas affected by the project including end users, stakeholders and vendors and ensures adherence to quality standards. 1.Aids in the evaluation of problems with workflow, organization, and planning and develops appropriate analytical approaches. 2.Maintains multiple protocol books and chronicles manuscript preparation. 3.Performs analyses of computerized datasets using standard packages to import, update, and manipulate datasets. 4.Presents studies’ results at professional scientific meetings and conferences. 5.Writes manuscripts and journal articles for peer-reviewed medical journals. 6.Ensures that research program objectives are communicated, met, and results are documented. 7.Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Department Specific Functions 1. Proficient in multiple project management methodologies, including: waterfall and agile, using SDLC and traditional project life cycles, depending on the needs of each project. 2. Working knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives. 3. Identifies project stakeholders and defines project roles and responsibilities. 4. Creates and maintains comprehensive project plans that communicate tasks, milestone dates, statuses and resource allocation. 5. Facilitates IT project governance and analysis. 6. Creates and controls all project related documents. 7. Responsible for providing and maintaining accurate and timely project information in all project plans, communications, status reporting, and deliverables. 8. Maintains the quality and accuracy of the Data Science project portfolio. 9. Leads cross-functional project teams by task assignment and follows up to ensure on-time completion. 10. Maintains effective management of multiple concurrent project assignments 11. Performs forecasting, change management, escalation management, meeting facilitation, and variance analysis. 12. Works closely with sponsors, stakeholders, users, technical team leads, technical and non-technical resources and management to execute core project management functions end to end on strategic projects that range in scope, budget, team size, risk and complexity. 13. Conducts regular project reviews and is responsible for knowing and communicating a project's status accurately throughout the project lifecycle which may include presenting to business/technical steering committees. 14. Provides regular and timely feedback to team members and their respective managers. 15. Identifies and resolves issues that may negatively impact a project or project deliverables. 16. Seeks and implements innovative ways to identify, respond to and control project obstacles/risks. 17. Demonstrated capacity to anticipate obstacles and plan for contingencies. 18. Knowledge of most aspects of computing and communications including hardware infrastructure, networking, software, operations and disaster recovery. Demonstrated experience in software development environment; knowledgeable of software development principles and workflows. 19. Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks. 20. Demonstrated experience with scientific research.
