Assistant Director SIM Center

Assistant Director SIM Center

Responsibilities
Support the Director in the strategic planning, growth, and evaluation of simulation services across the institution. Monitor and evaluate simulation sessions, learner outcomes, and program effectiveness using data-driven metrics.
Ensure alignment with accreditation standards, institutional learning objectives, and best practices in simulation-based education. Assist in accreditation efforts and management of projects of major initiatives.
Assist with the management and oversight of the medical simulation center, ensuring effective execution and compliance for department staffing, budgeting, and programming. Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of the organization's strategic vision and plan.
Ensure that department goals and objectives are communicated and achieved. Identify opportunities for improvement, innovation, implementation, and integration of simulation resources and methodologies.
Participate in strategic planning, staffing decisions, policy development, and other key areas. Coordinate proposal reviews, collection and completion of data, and preparation of reports.
Assist with managing budgets, grants, and financial planning under the direction of the Director. Recommend operating budgetary needs, forecasting expenses, and ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources for the Simulation Center.
Assist in the administration and interpretation of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Enforce guidelines and regulations from FIU, HWCOM, the State of Florida, and other relevant governing bodies. Recommend department policies and procedures, ensure compliance, and provide training for staff as needed.
Assist with developing partnerships throughout the University to attain departmental goals and objectives. Act as liaison among functional areas and other departments. Develop and employ strategies to collaborate across all departments, such as business development, accounting, and scheduling education to facilitate new business, enhance existing arrangements, manage budgeting, and ensure resources are available to support program coordination.
Encourage and contribute to scholarly activity, including simulation-based research and presentations/publications. Co-lead faculty development workshops in simulation methodology, debriefing techniques, and curriculum design. Lead learner orientations and promote interprofessional education initiatives that utilize simulation-based learning.
Assist with designing and implementing innovative simulation-based curricula for UME with collaborative integration across other programs (allied health, GME, and community). Collaborate with faculty and staff to build scenarios and provide technical support and advice.
Establish communication for planning purposes with related organizational units to meet operational goals. Help manage change in accordance with change management plan to control scope, cost, and contracts.
Assist with articulating expectations, monitoring performance, and providing feedback consistently across areas of responsibility.
Supervise and coach professional and/or support staff, establish goals, identify professional development opportunities, and evaluate performance. Establish a work environment that fosters teamwork, communication, efficiency, and effectiveness. Oversee current staffing, including temporary pools, to ensure sufficient staffing, recruiting, and efficient scheduling to balance and supplement full-time teams as needed.
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree and two (2) years of experience.
Department Desirable Qualifications
CHSE or CHSOS Certification (or eligibility within 12 months).
Experience teaching or facilitating simulations across UME, GME, and allied health professions.
Familiarity with instructional design, curriculum development, and assessment in simulation.
Strong understanding of simulation technologies, manikins, AV systems, and mixed-reality tools.
Master’s degree in health professions education, healthcare administration, nursing, public health, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare education with at least 3 years in simulation-based education.
