Location:
Remote with 8 visits annually to 3483 McCament Rd, Walhonding, OH 43843 We’re looking for a mission-driven, entrepreneurial, and strategic leader to join our executive team as the Vice President of Fundraising & Development , reporting directly to the Founder & CEO of because I said I would. This role is responsible for building and leading a sustainable revenue engine, rooted in relationships and real experiences. You’ll drive individual and institutional giving by not just asking for support—but getting donors to experience the impact of our mission. That includes visits to Camp because I said I would , attending our speeches, meeting program participants, and joining in-depth conversations with our CEO. Responsibilities
Lead and execute a strategic fundraising plan focused on major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and event fundraising to reach $2M annually within three years. Schedule and facilitate donor experiences , including tours of Camp because I said I would, visits to our programs, attendance at key speeches, and other immersion opportunities. Hold a KPI of facilitating 5 donor meetings per week for the CEO with major gift prospects, foundation officers, or corporate sponsors. Cultivate and manage a portfolio of 35+ major donors giving $10,000+ annually, including stewardship strategies to retain and grow support. Lead donor stewardship efforts , ensuring timely acknowledgments, impact reporting, recognition programs, and long-term engagement planning. Oversee grant-writing efforts , including AI-assisted tools and staff support, to secure institutional funding. Manage and expand board fundraising efforts , supporting a 12-member Board of Directors through recruitment and engagement. Track donor pipeline and performance using Salesforce CRM , providing real-time insights and recommendations to the CEO and Executive Team. Supervise a growing fundraising team , currently including:
Fulfillment Manager (full-time) – manages merchandise sales, fundraising tables, inventory, and shipping. Professional volunteers and interns , assisting with prospect research, CRM tasks, and fundraising events. Future full-time staff , added as development revenue grows.
Qualifications
7+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including major gifts and corporate partnerships Demonstrated history of raising $500,000+ annually through direct donor engagement Strong track record of securing and executing donor visits, events, and site experiences Experience managing Salesforce or equivalent donor CRM systems Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time-management skills Strong strategic thinking and self-direction Ability to travel regularly and represent the CEO in donor interactions Preferred Skills:
CFRE certification is a plus Experience growing development programs in young or high-growth nonprofits Knowledge of donor experience design and legacy giving Organizational Culture:
