What you will do We are seeking an experienced Gateway Manager to oversee our logistics and freight forwarding operations at our gateway facility. The role is responsible for managing Air export and import teams, overall operations, ensuring efficient processes, overseeing quality and cost-effective solutions, and maintaining strong relationships with partners and clients. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of the logistics industry.

Responsibilities

Manage and mentor a team of logistics personnel, fostering a culture of teamwork.

Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide training to enhance team skills.

Ensure timely completion of scorecards and continuous improvement plans to achieve targets and effective operational management.

Oversee daily operations at the gateway facility, ensuring efficient processing of freight and compliance with regulations.

Implement and maintain operational policies and procedures to enhance productivity and reduce costs.

Develop and execute innovative approaches to handling existing and new lanes to enhance yields and customer satisfaction.

Vendor management: ensure periodic performance reviews to maintain optimal service and performance levels.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure high levels of satisfaction.

Address and resolve operational issues or customer concerns promptly.

Collaborate with other departments to investigate customer or shipping needs and generate solutions.

Analyze operational performance data to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance service offerings and profitability.

Optimize procurement costs through effective local negotiations.

Manage capacity planning aligned with corporate carrier strategy to ensure cost-effective, service-oriented solutions.

Collaborate with senior management on the development of long-term operational goals.

Ensure all operations comply with industry regulations and safety standards; monitor and manage risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment.

Develop and manage the operational budget for the gateway facility; monitor financial performance and take corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in Airfreight, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.

Strong understanding of logistics operations, regulations, and industry best practices.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proficient in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to anticipate and identify customers’ needs and ensure strong customer service.
