OVERVIEW

Boston Public Schools

Founded in 1647, Boston Public Schools (BPS) is the country’s oldest public school district. With approximately 49,000 students from over 114 different countries, and nearly 10,000 employees (including 4,800 teachers), BPS is the largest school district in Massachusetts with a diverse portfolio of schools. With 34 diploma-granting secondary schools and programs, the BPS Office of Secondary Schools coordinates central support at the district level in Educational Options, Postsecondary Initiatives, Career and Technical Education (CTE), Early College (EC), and School Counseling. Our goal is to design enriching school experiences so that every BPS student has the opportunity to graduate with a rigorous education leading to postsecondary success, career, and life readiness.

Position Description

Boston Public Schools seeks a Postsecondary Readiness Coordinator to support the district-wide rollout and continuous improvement of the My Career and Academic Planning (MyCAP) in grades PK-12. MyCAP is a student-centered, holistic, multi-year advising and planning system designed to guide students in their academic, personal/social, and career development from elementary through high school. Its implementation supports key district goals, including MassCore completion, advanced coursework access, attendance and engagement, graduation rates, and postsecondary enrollment and success. This role is central to advancing personalized advising and career-connected learning (CCL) by building school-level capacity, coordinating aligned efforts, and supporting effective implementation strategies district-wide.

The Postsecondary Readiness Coordinator will focus on helping schools adopt and strengthen MyCAP systems that guide students in setting and pursuing academic, personal, and career goals. This includes supporting new elementary and middle schools as they onboard into the MyCAP process and partnering with schools already implementing MyCAP to improve and sustain their practices alongside other members of the district MyCAP team. The role will also deepen schools' integration of career-connected learning by strengthening partnerships and expanding access to real-world learning opportunities aligned with students’ goals. In addition to school support, the person in this role will coordinate tools, timelines, and strategic resources to strengthen the overall MyCAP system.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of College & Career Advising Programs, the Postsecondary Readiness Coordinator will work closely with colleagues across the Office of Secondary Schools, as well as school teams and community partners, to ensure all BPS students receive high-quality advising and access to meaningful college, career, and life readiness experiences.
